Logging in to your accounts

mySandburg is your personalized, online account connecting you to all college information and services. Begin checking it now, and continue to check it daily!

Your mySandburg account is assigned when you are admitted to the college, as indicated in your welcome letter. If you have issues logging in, please email the Help Desk or call 309.341.5446.

Paying for your classes

Financial aid for the spring semester will be applied in November, and financial aid for the summer semester will be applied in April. Financial aid may include the Pell grant, MAP grant, talent grants and scholarships. Contact the Email the Financial Aid Office or call 309.341.5283 with any questions.

If you do not receive financial aid, you can see a full list of the various payment options and may sign up for a payment plan at mySandburg under My Account.

If you fail to pay for your classes by the tuition payment deadline and through the 100% refund period, you'll be removed from the class list. You may re-register for these classes (if they are still available), but payment in full is due at the time of registration. Talk with the Financial Aid Office to ensure your financial aid is processed and applied to your account before the tuition due date.

Getting your Sandburg ID card

You will get your ID card when you attend the Charge Up Orientation or at the Public Safety office located in Building B. ID cards are mandatory and are required to access the following services:

  • Checking out books in the library
  • Using financial aid in the bookstore
  • Free access to the city bus
  • Free attendance at athletic events

When you're unable to come to campus to get your student ID card:

  • Register for classes with your academic advisor.
  • Send a picture to publicsafety@sandburg.edu along with your student ID number. (Your picture must be similar to a passport photo, which is of your head and shoulders with a plain background. Required dimensions: 274x376 pixels, H/V resolution 72 dpi bit 24.)
  • Public Safety will verify you're enrolled in classes.
  • If your submitted photo meets the picture requirements, your photo ID will be mailed to the address you have on file with the college.

Purchasing your textbooks and supplies

Take a copy of your schedule to the bookstore at least two to three weeks before classes begin or order your books online through the bookstore's website. Remember to keep your receipt in case you change classes.

You can find your required textbooks by looking at your schedule to find which section number you're in (many courses have different section numbers, e.g., in "PSY 101 102," 102 is the section number for this PSY 101 course).

Some courses don't use books and instead use open education resources (OER). Your instructor will provide links to materials.

Attend the Charge Up orientation

During your registration appointment, your advisor will sign you up for Charge Up Orientation. This event will give you the important information you need to begin taking classes at Sandburg.

Self-service menu

The self-service menu is the gateway to a lot of key information:

  • Under the User Information menu, you can:
    • Change your address.
    • Update emergency contact information.
    • Apply to graduate.
    • Create a proxy, which allows others to view your account.

  • Under the My Classes menu, you can:
    • View and print your schedule.
    • View your grades and GPA
    • Request transcripts.
    • Access the student planner
    • View your program evaluation (also known as academic evaluation or degree audit). Your academic evaluation outlines the progress toward your degree.

  • Under the My Account menu, you can:
    • Pay tuition.
    • Sign up for the payment plan.
    • Sign up for direct deposit, if you are being issued a refund.

  • Under the Financial Aid menu, you can access your financial aid information.

Student planner

Student planner software keeps you on track to complete your degree or certificate. Advisors and students meet to select classes and assign semesters on the timeline. Before registration, advisors and students finalize and approve class sections in the course plan calendar. Once advisors approve the sections, you may register when registration opens.

Waitlisted classes

If your advisor waitlisted you for a class, you'll receive a notification through your mySandburg email account when a seat in the class becomes available. The notification email will arrive around midnight; so check your email first thing in the morning.

You have only 24 hours to add the class. When you receive the waitlist email, forward it to your academic advisor to enroll in the class. If you miss the 24-hour deadline, the next student on the waitlist is notified and offered the seat. If you miss the deadline, you must request to be re-added to the end of the waitlist.

Online classes

If you're taking online classes, your courses may not be visible until the first day of class in Moodle, which is located under mySandburg, My Classes, Moodle home page.
